Times of the School Day

organisation

​The school year is divided into three terms of approximately 12 weeks, each with a one week half-term break.
 
The school day consists of:
Morning Session
08:50 - 12:00
Break
10:30 –10:45
Lunch
12:00 –13:05
Afternoon Session
13:05 –15:10

​The children are taught in three classes divided into age ranges
Little Minster
Reception
4 – 5 year olds
Dovecote
Year 1
5 - 6 year olds
Wenrisc
Year 2
6 - 7 year olds
Charterville
Years 3 and 4
7 - 9 year olds
Lovell
Years 5 and 6
9-11 year olds
​The school year starts in September and children normally spend approximately two years with each teacher depending on their term of entry into the school. The Reception class is the exception where children only spend one year.

classroom organisation

​Each class contains children of differing abilities and aptitudes and therefore work is set according to each child’s capabilities. The way children are taught and how they are grouped varies according to the activity. In any week children are taught as a whole class, in groups or individually.
